ACG hits it big at SLMC Fun Run 2015
ON a dewy Sunday morning, scores of breathless adrenaline-filled runners at Sungai Long Medical Centre’s Fun Run marathon in Bandar Sungai Long found something more to smile about at the end of their run.
Curious runners were thrilled to explore the Aged Care Group booth which offered a photography section, a balancing test exercise, body painting, stress ball exercise demonstrations and healthy food and juice tasting.
Many took photos with the ACG “3Age portal” photo frame, eagerly uploading the photos to the 3Age Facebook page and sharing the day’s festivities with friends online.
Subsequently, the photo-happy participants were delighted to receive the ACG stress balls and find out more about stress ball exercises to strengthen the hand and finger muscles.
There were peals of laughter as many attempted to balance themselves on a wobble board and a balance disk.
Ah Ming, one of the participants, was very pleased when he overcame the challenge by successfully balancing himself on the wobble board.
The body painting activity was also a hit among the younger runners as vibrant and colourful designs were painted on their arms and face by a professional artist.
Student Chen Jingzou, 14, who had his arm painted, exclaimed that the activities were “fun and interesting”.
Tiny, a Master’s Degree student at Sungai Long UTAR, was impressed with ACG’s services, in particular the Circles Day Care Centre which is still being developed.
“I have visited nursing homes before and found that most of the elderly have nothing to do there. The nursing homes don’t organise activities for the elderly. The concept of ACG is different – coming out with several activities and programmes to keep the elderly physically and mentally active,” he said. Tiny also commented that the activities run at the ACG booth helped him to better gauge his health condition.
Circles Enriched Living Programme is currently run at Sungai Long Medical Centre (2nd floor) in Bandar Sungai Long, Kajang, Selangor. The operation hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday, 9.30am-4pm.
